Yutsil O’tan
Retreat Center for Earth Care from the Mayan Cosmovision
1. Foundation
Yutsil O’tan —which means “Good Heart” or “Healthy Heart” in the Mayan language— was created as a retreat space for learning and integral transformation that places at its center the care of Mother Earth and the healing of the human heart from the perspective of the Mayan cosmovision.
In a global context marked by ecological crisis, community fragmentation, and spiritual disconnection, Yutsil O’tan proposes a model that integrates ancestral wisdom with contemporary approaches to therapeutic accompaniment. The project recognizes that individual healing is deeply intertwined with the regeneration of the land and the restoration of community bonds.
The Center is founded on deep respect for Indigenous peoples and on ethical, culturally responsible collaboration with grandmothers, grandfathers, spiritual guides, and practitioners of the Mayan cosmovision.
2. General Purpose
To catalyze processes of inner transformation, community healing, and ethical action that strengthen the spiritual heart of individuals and promote regenerative practices in relationship with Mother Earth.
3. Specific Objectives
Integrate Mayan spirituality with Gestalt therapy, transpersonal psychology, and various holistic therapies in both educational and therapeutic processes.
Generate experiences of deep reconnection with nature through immersive, place-based practices.
Strengthen ecological awareness and active commitment to environmental care projects.
Contribute to the respectful transmission of ancestral knowledge, ensuring dignified and recognized participation of tradition bearers.
Foster group processes that encourage community cohesion and the practice of an ethics of care.
4. Methodological Approach
Yutsil O’tan adopts an integral approach that articulates four dimensions:
Spiritual:
Rituals, ceremonies, the Mayan calendar, and practices of gratitude and connection with the elements, guided in respectful collaboration with traditional spiritual authorities.
Corporal and Energetic:
Temazcal (sweat lodge), conscious breathing practices, meditation, somatic work, and holistic therapies that harmonize body, mind, and spirit.
Ecological and Communal:
Regenerative care projects such as reforestation, conscious water management, agroecology, soil restoration, and food sovereignty practices, aligned with the vision of the territory as a living being.
Psycho-emotional:
Gestalt therapy, transpersonal psychology, individual accompaniment, and group processes oriented toward self-knowledge, emotional integration, and the development of expanded consciousness.
5. Programs
The Center will offer:
Short retreats (2–5 days): Intensive experiences of spiritual and ecological reconnection.
